Hi,

Willem 4.5 doesn't support serial devices.

I don't think any version of the program supports 16Mb serial devices.  Some programs that only support serial devices are compatible with Willem programmers that support serial devices; but that won't help you.

Dennis

Hi Dennis.

Thankyou for your reply.

Have you any idea what hardware i would need to read the above flash chip?

i build PCB's myself for a living so it wouldnt be a problem if theres only scematics about for the hardware.

thx again

Just a programmer that supported serial devices and a program that supported MX25L1605.

You could check the serial programs that are compatible with Willem programmers:  ICPROG and WinPic800 are a couple.

You might be able to figure out how to modify your Willem 4.5 to support serial devices.  Most of the serial logic was removed, but I think there are enough hooks that you could restore it.

Compare the schematics for a PCB3/ATH3.1SS with the 4.5 schematic and you should be able to figure it out.

Or you could build a PCB3 or ATH3.1SS, board layouts and schematics are available.  You just need to address VCC voltage drop, VPP reliability (for PCB3 variants), low VCC options, and low voltage interface to the parallel port.

Dennis

thats excellent thankyou for this valuble information

btw ive already spent a few days using icprog winpic8000 with no success.

ill take a look at the PCB3 schematics or maybe mod the w4.5.

thanks again Dennis for your help, highly appreciated.
